Robin Adel Dubruin

Robin Adel Dubruin is a versatile fine artist whose career spans various disciplines, from concept design and sculpture to prop creation and event decor. Robin’s formal education began with a 4-year study in Ballet and Music at the Met Ballet & Music School in Parktown, before transitioning to visual arts, honing their craft at Bell Ansley School of Art for three years.

Robin has worked extensively in the art and commercial industries, creating layouts and concept designs for companies like Whit’s Add, Durban Food Festival, and Toby Jenks Cats & Luri Jewels in Sandton. Her skills in goldsmithing, model making, and architectural design have been key to various projects, including work for Paus Lerberman and Metro Line station sketches. Freelance endeavors included assisting on prop design for productions like ChakaBulo, Stan, and Miles.

As an event designer and decor specialist, Robin’s talents were showcased at numerous South African events. Projects included commercial work for Palmolive, ERA Mora, and Wooddoc, as well as high-profile corporate decor for SA Events & Decor, Dent Ricelin, and Marquee. Robin also contributed to larger public art installations, such as the conceptual fence design at Sandton Park and prop designs for a wine farm backdrop.

A key highlight in Robin’s career has been the involvement with Disneyland South Africa, where they contributed to concept art and design. Additional significant commercial work includes collaboration with brands like Woolworths, Ogilvy & Mather, and Preteris for window displays and visual concept art. Her skillset expanded into set design and special effects, particularly in films like Mandela, Madik, and Barni Banato.

Robin’s expertise also extends into teaching, where she has rendered and taught blind sculpture at Tanguy Schools, combining art and accessibility. Other notable works include 3D mural installations in restaurants, conceptual design for Telkom and Lowell Hersvelt buses, and large-scale murals and sculptures at the Zoo Lodge.

Robin’s artistic journey has been marked by multiple awards, including seven for her conceptual art at Marine Maloro, and she have exhibited work internationally in Israel, Zurich, Switzerland, and London. Known for her versatility and commitment to both art and teaching, Robin continues to inspire through her multi-faceted approach to creativity.
